Vintage Pyrex & Rubber Stamps

Over the past month or so, my mother and I have been finding quite a bit of vintage pyrex on our thrifting adventures and as well as at the swap meet (flea market). We really do love vintage pyrex for its very cute design as well as the quality. They just do not make pyrex now like in the "good'ol days" but its ok because its one more thing to keep an eye out for at the thrift stores and makes those thrifting trips even more fun!

[This one is a more common design but reminds us more of grandma]

[I found this one all on my own at Goodwill and I hope to bring this with me to college]

[This one is now our bunnies food bowl so it is easier to eat from than a bowl]

At the swap meet last week, I was also able to buy a whole box of rubber stamps for $10. A lot of the stamps were ones that I didn't really like but, what I did have my eye out for were these vintage stamps. Out of the whole box I kept these because:

  • vintage stamps are very expensive
  • they were in the best condition
  • they needed a new home
When I first brought them home, I quickly scrubbed them down with a toothbrush and some soapy water and soon they were like brand new! Their last owner did not take very good care of them, but at  least they now have a new home and I love stamping cards before I give them away.

[That turtle stamp was one of the reasons I bought the whole shoe box]

Summer 2014 so far...

So far this summer vacation has been super chill and nice! Mommy got the fourth of July off so we got to see the fireworks down at the harbor :) and the Saturday after, we went to the farmer's market and we also did some hard-core thrifting downtown Ventura and found a few things (a few vintage pyrex pieces).

[this picture is from my new canon. It doesn't do so well in low light and my nikon would have done a little better, but it is a cute shot nonetheless]

[I love fire-works mostly for the sounds]

At the market the day after the fourth of July, there was this camper with the coolest designs on it. I had to be a little sneaky while taking pictures on my phone as to not disturb the dude living in it.

[these were all equally awesome, but this humanoid figure was my favorite]

More summer posts to come :)

Spring Break 2014

My last spring break in high school (three weeks ago(sorry)). It was by far one of the best breaks I have had in a while. I spent most of it with my brother and my dad and it was fun. We went up north to the Monterey Bay Area-San Francisco Bay Area without an itinerary and it was awesome. We did whatever we wanted to do and nothing we didn't want to do.

[I started my spring break off by going to my brother's confirmation ceremony [officially a Catholic]]

[My bun's lips are the sweetest]

[Old Volkswagon that needs a little love]

The morning right before my trip up north I was finally able to go to the Ventura Flea Market. I have been wanting to go to this market for a few months now and spring break rolls along I was able to go. It's a moderately sized flea market with rows and rows and rows of just stuff. Random shit. My mom and I did not find anything that we truly loved until we were just about to go. She found a pyrex mixing bowl (large) and I got a huge abalone shell. Abalone is my favorite mollusk but is sadly going extinct due to over fishing.

[2x the size of my original shell]

[In Monterey we stayed with my Aunt in her hotel suite (Thank you Auntie Jenny)]

I had my first Indian food experience ever! It was really good! I had some seconds thought about eating Indian food because the dishes aren't very "attractive" looking and smell heavily of spices and what not, but I really enjoyed all the dishes! I was some of the most flavorful food I have ever tasted and I would definitely come back.

I got to go to Santa Cruz! Please take me back! I kinda want to go there for school now. I fell in love with UCSC and Santa Cruz!!!!!!!!!!! So foresty and green I loved everything about Santa Cruz.

[This is my top school right now]

[ I went to San Francisco. Anything goes there]

All in all, I had a memorable trip. It re-enforced why I need to go out and explore the world. There so much to see but only little bit of time. I want to go back in the summer.

DownTown Ventura Finds

Soo my iPad is giving me a little problems with uploading this post. I had some really nice pictures I took but they wont upload. Irritating :p

Anyways, yesterday I went to Downtown Ventura with my mom.  We always find the best stuff (random shit I really don't need) and it was fun just getting out of the house. But, we mostly went to see Wild Planet close. They had a really really nice sale going on because it was "Buy 1 get 2 Free!" I wish they had more shoes but it's all good. We ended up buying a Pure Hemp Wallet (not pictured), a pack of Japanese playing cards and a patch for my moms backpack. We really only bought the wallet and got the cards and patch for free :D

At Buffalo Exchange I found this lovely teal Patagonia sweater that with a zipper. I spent like 10 minutes in front of the mirror debating whether or not I wanted to spend $28 on it. In the end, after another 20 minutes of contemplating I decided to get it. It was in pristine condition and in a colour I have been searching for. It was a splurge, but a nice one.

At Goodwill, my mom found a Juicy Couture Jacket! It looked like it was never ever worn. Sadly though, it was too small for my mom and she wanted to give it to one of my friends. Hopefully she loves it! I also found one of the best albums for pictures ever, and it was filled with pictures. Someone actually threw away pictures! Pictures taken by film! People are insane!

We also went to 2 other thrift stores but not much luck. They were a little "picked through" from the weekend. We also went into another store, and I got a hat. Its poofy. I like poofy :)

All in all. I love spending time with my mom and just searching for hidden treasures :)

[In love with this. I can't wait till it gets more chilly]

[Pristine. Such a steal. It was practically free!]

[I have wanted these forever! I can't believe I got it "free"]

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday!!! My mouth is still sore :p Boy did I have such a nice and (lucky) Sunday afternoon. I went with my mom to do some shopping in Downtown Ventura our favorite place to go whenever we get the chance. To my dismay, Wild Planet is closing! Wild Planet is one of my favorite stores downtown and it's filled with all kinds of freaky and alternative items. And now its leaving for good :( I ended up saving a Mexican blanket from the store as a little reminder of the store. It was 30% off of $45 so I was able to get it for like $33. I have been looking for a really cool Mexican Blanket for the longest time!

I also went to Goodwill and was really lucky! It was mid-afternoon and the long-sleeves looked picked through. I found a Lucky Brand my size which is very very rare! I'll do an OOTD one of these days wearing it.

My mom also snagged a few things too like a vintage Pyrex container (never used), some bags, etc. All in all it was a really nice relaxing stroll down Ventura and I'm looking forward to the next time I get to go again :)
